Day 1 (27 July 2024): The Lap4Legacy Journey Begins

Neil and Dave embarked on their epic Lap4Legacy motorbike journey, setting out to ride 17,300 kilometres around Australia to raise funds for Legacy, an organization dedicated to supporting families of deceased, disabled, or troubled veterans. Their adventure began at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, where they set off under chilly, foggy conditions. Neil encountered early issues with his heated gloves, but their spirits remained high despite this setback.

The duo rode south from Canberra, passing through Cooma along the scenic Snowy Mountains Highway. Their first major stop was in Narooma, where they enjoyed a warm meal—a welcome respite from the cold start. Continuing their journey, they headed up the picturesque East Coast, taking in stunning landscapes and crossing the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge near Wollongong.

The day's ride concluded in Sydney, where Neil and Dave were warmly greeted by family. The first day of their Lap4Legacy journey was challenging and exhilarating, marking a significant beginning to their five-week mission to raise awareness and funds for Legacy. Their effort highlights the minor discomforts they endure on their motorbike journey compared to the struggles faced by the families they aim to support.
